FILMMAKER'S STATEMENT
"The story of a woman released from prison is complicated. What happens post release is the most imposing. Countless contradictions break the possibility of true freedom. The bars and the walls do not necessarily restrict the spirit. This film wants to dispel doubts and present the human side of this group of mothers, daughters, friends, beings who after incarceration are capable of great growth and to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to a better world."
Oscar Lobo
This film movingly takes the viewer from darkness into light. A perfect metaphor for the womens' journeys post incarceration. Filmed outdoors, under the imposing shelter of the Miami sky, the participants embarked on a journey where the camera moved to capture facial and body expressions as a reflection of the soul the women as essentially meaningful. A RED Monochrome camera was used to shoot footage in 8k. The location had never been used before and sits on the shoreline of Biscayne Bay. A robotic Gimbal camera system was used to create the visual effects.
We are visual communicators wanting to make a change within ourselves and in our community.
